paris.
mon dieu. the timing of it all. packing this morning throwing things into my suitcase waking my sisters and holding their hands of nutella bread and tiny USB ladybug keys listening to celtic music while arranging my room and deciding what of what to keep and what of what to not and piece by piece dismantling what was. as the morning wore on and i glanced at the clock, the pace of my panic quickened and finally at 1:45 i just threw the rest of my life into the giant broken royal purple duffel and that was it.. sophie said “just take what you can. the rest can stay.”
agnès and solange by the doorframe, paralyzed by my frenzy. the youngest is too young and solange had so many questions.. i stopped listening in french, reverting only to english even when i know they can’t understand.
me traversing the aisles of the TGV trying desperately to find place 23 in coach 8. non non non. the glares, the frowns, the why-the-fuck-is-your-luggage-so-large? yes well! american luggage! suck it! five months abroad! i too am surprised by how easily the little stuff adds up!
bref. i’m here. time to breathe, organize, settle… and tomorrow, the adventure may really begin. stay posted, fools.
